When I began working with archangel energy, it was two years after the death of my second daughter Lucia Paz. I found so much comfort in feeling and working with the archangels. As I began really opening to my gifts, I would see the angels come with friends and then later clients.
Archangel Azrael appeared first around my friend Ginny who was dying of Mesothelioma. I saw the angel wrap his wings around Ginny to comfort her. After she died, I would see Archangel Azrael do this to the community who surrounded her.
Archangel Azrael, meaning "He who helps God", is seen in some traditions as the archangel of grief and the bereaved. He is also said to be the one that comes to help a soul cross over. When I have experienced Archangel Azrael, in the depths of my own grief, He comes as a warm comforting energy filled with hope that my loved ones are always with us and we will be reunited again.
I painted this during a point when I was deep in grief and wanted to express how he held me--wings completely surrounding me, protecting me from the world and outside pressures, so I could just cry and grieve without judgment.
